PRIVATE ONLINE CLASSES & EXPERIENCES

Our team of food and wine experts are here to curate and host a memorable experience just for you.

Casa Mia launched interactive group cooking lessons, and wine and cheese tastings in April 2020. This has allowed us to continue bringing Italian cuisine and culture to hundreds of individuals worldwide, even in the midst of a pandemic.

But tailoring custom private experiences is our forte since 2015.

Our private cooking classes bring families and distanced friends together. People who have not been with one another due to Covid-19, or simply because of geography and restricted travel, can now be transported to Italy for a moment of fun, convivial and educating culinary bliss.

“Our motto is food is love and when we cook together, that love only spreads exponentially.”

Private classes focus on celebrating special occasions safely and deliciously: birthdays, wedding anniversaries or simply just friends being friends.

Come together for school reunions, graduations or to reward a work team’s achievement. Grandparents get to see the faces of their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Parents, couples and friends celebrate milestones from their kitchens. Wine and cheese lovers swirl and nibble exclusive Italian products in the comfort of their homes… the possibilities are endless.

We are beyond blessed to create these experiences for you.

Meet Our Team

Gina Tringali

Owner

Gina is a travel and food writer, culinary guide and natural wine lover. She divides her time between Italy and the U.S. traveling to meet food experts, wine producers and chefs. Uncovering wine & culinary history, traditional & creative food recipes and emerging food trends is an endless adventure.

Born into an Italian-American family, she fell in love with all things Italian at a young age. Time spent in kitchens with her Neapolitan and Sicilian grandparents watching, cooking and tasting every dish fed this love and dream of living in Italy.

In 2007, Gina packed her bags and moved to Rome to make her dream of living and working in Italy a reality. While earning a Master’s degree in Italian Gastronomic Culture from the Università degli Studi di Roma Tor Vergata, she worked as a tour guide and put her business expertise to use as a consultant for a number of tour operators. The end result was the creation of Casa Mia Tours.

She moved into the food and tourism industry in 2006 when she had the opportunity to work for Tom Colicchio's Craft family of restaurants in NYC in business development & marketing and spent some time in the kitchen. Previously, she worked in financial services in Boston, New York and London.

Gina has an MBA from New York University, holds the WSET Advanced Certificate in Wines and Spirits and is a certified sommelier and member of the Associazione Italiana Sommelier (AIS). She was the production coordinator for “Master Chef Australia” in Rome and the Naples and Emilia-Romagna episodes of the Netflix series “Ugly Delicious”. Her writing appears in numerous food and travel print and web publications.

FAQ

How do I book a private class?

To request a private class simply contact us. We will promptly respond asking a few questions regarding number of participants, number of devices, type of class, potential dates, and payment format.

What happens next?

Once booking is completed, participants receive a shopping list and the zoom link to join the class on the agreed date. Please don’t hesitate to ask us for substitutions if you can’t find an ingredient or don’t have a specific kitchen tool. We make substitutions in our kitchens every day!

What private classes do you offer?

If you need inspiration for what to cook, we can send you our course catalog along with sample menus. From there, depending upon availability of instructors, we will follow up with you to assist in curating your tailored private experience.

How long do classes run?

We are open to private classes of all configurations and will work with you to plan your class accordingly. Most have been either a one-course meal or a wine and cheese tasting of 3 wines and 3 cheeses, both lasting 90 minutes. Yet there are opportunities to create a longer class of 2 or 3 courses.

How many people can be in a private class?

The average private class size is typically 6 devices for a total of 12 participants, however we can arrange classes smaller and larger. There have been private cooking and/or wine tasting lessons where everyone is in the same kitchen, or sometimes multiple people in their own kitchens on their own tablets/laptops.

I want to plan a private class but we have dietary restrictions. Can you help?

Of course! Booking a private experience is the ideal way to accommodate eating restrictions. Where possible, we’re happy to alter recipes as needed due to dietary aversions or restrictions.

Can I give a private class as a gift?

Absolutely! We offer Gift Certificates that can be customized to include the recipient’s name and other personalized details.

I can’t recommend a Casa Mia Private Class enough! My husband and I booked one with Carolyn as a holiday gift for our parents and siblings. It was the perfect way to celebrate and ‘spend some time together’ when we couldn’t gather physically. Carolyn worked with us to create a custom menu that fit our dietary restrictions and tastes perfectly. It was so fun to cook and eat together from 6 different states! Will definitely be booking with casa Mia again for a fun girls night, family gathering, or a unique company experience.

We signed up for a private Casa Mia cheese and wine tasting on the occasion of my mother in law’s birthday. We heard about Casa Mia through a colleague who had done cooking classes with them and had loved the experience. The event was for a party of ten. Gina and Eleonora were exceptional. They were knowledgeable, charismatic and made the event feel like a family gathering filled with stories and great laughs. We were so taken by the experience that we began to take cooking classes with Casa Mia. Every class feels like cooking in my kitchen with a group of friends.

Gina, Eleonora, and Carolyn are amazing! The virtual wine and cheese tastings and virtual cooking shows are interactive and so informative. Great for families and friends to connect for private Zoom get-togethers across the country and internationally. As a business owner, I was unable to host an in person holiday party. Casa Mia was able to create an experience for my team catering to dietary needs as necessary. Eleonora was patient, kind, and a wonderful teacher. It was so much fun! And when travel resumes I know these incredible women will help my family plan a one of a kind tour of Italy. Their local connections with Italian families, businesses, restaurants and vineyards offer a unique and unforgettable experience.
