Our February 2022 #whatscooking interactive online cooking classes and wine tastings are open for enrollment!
Once again, the Casa Mia team (Gina, Eleonora and Carolyn) are offering one-plate simple interactive cooking lessons and wine & cheese tastings. Since starting these experiences in 2020, we have created a way to bring the universal us together online.
As always, lessons are geared toward home cooks like us, and are open to all. Check out our February cooking classes and wine & cheese tastings below. Most importantly, remember to sign up before classes fill up!
Wednesday, February 2, 2022 – The Crostata
A sweet treat that can act as breakfast, a snack or dessert, the crostata is an Italian tart that never disappoints. Like its American cousin the pie, the crostata combines a delicious crust with an equally luscious fruit filling. In this class we will explore the difference and create a beautiful crostata along with a fresh jam filling that may just take over the apple pie on Thanksgiving!

Sunday, February 6, 2022 – Italian Dolce: Salame di Cioccolato
For the month of love let’s go with something soul stirring, shall we? Salame di cioccolato–don’t let the name fool you–is a typical winter dessert that uses two favorite comfort foods: chocolate and cookies. In our 60-minute lesson your instructor Eleonora will share her tips on how to make this decadent no-bake delight. Then enjoy it with your lover, or as a treat for yourself for some serious Valentine’s self care.

Saturday, February 19, 2022 – Wine & Cheese Pairing: Italian Sparkling Wines
Our February tasting is all about our favorite bubbles & cheeses. We will taste 3 sparkling wines paired with 3 cheeses made in different styles. Pairing lessons are taught in tandem by Eleonora, our resident cheese expert, and Gina, our natural wine lover. Both will share some of their wine and cheese adventures.

Friday, February 25, 2022 – Torta Rustica di Riso e Zucchine (Rice & Zucchini Savory Pie)
Some call it quiche or a savory pie. But in Italy, Torta Rustica is both a seasonal staple and an art form. The versatile dish can be served as an appetizer, as a side, or be the main course. With boundless recipes, these rustic pies were initially made to use up leftovers. The filing was made of vegetables, cheese, cured meats, and an egg to bind it all together in a flaky shell. Served warm or at room temperature, it’s also the perfect picnic food.
