A full day excursion hunting for truffles in Piemonte
For centuries truffles have been representative of Piedmont and the object of international study as well as a source of pride. It’s fun to hunt for truffles, learn about them, meet the trufolau and their beautiful dogs, but let’s not forget the best part, eating them!
Forget passive observation, Piemonte truffle hunting plunges you headfirst into the fascinating world of this luxurious gift of Nature. Imagine venturing into the lush forests of Langhe or Monferrato alongside a seasoned truffle hunter and their expertly trained dogs.
With expert guidance, you’ll learn to decipher the subtle signs that betray a truffle’s hidden location beneath the earth – a twitch of the dog’s nose, a shift in the ground. The thrill of discovery intensifies as the dogs unearth the precious nuggets, their unique earthy aroma filling the air. You’ll witness firsthand the age-old tradition of truffle hunting in Piedmont, a unique blend of human-canine partnership and deep respect for the region’s natural bounty.
A driver will meet guests at their hotel to take them to a prestigious truffle reserve where they will hunt for truffles and learn about the magical art of truffle hunting. After gathering truffles, guests can extend the experience. For an additional price we can arrange a private wine tasting followed by lunch in a hazelnut orchard (weather permitting), or at a vineyard. Truffle experiences can be fully tailored according to our clients’ needs.
