As much as it pains me to admit, there is more to Italy than pizza, pasta, and gelato. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve definitely had my fair share of all three… but I don’t think my mama (or my body) are too impressed with my “Italian diet” thus far. And as the summer days get hotter and longer I’ve desperately been searching for a new pick-me-up. The answer? Juice Bars! Juice is prepared by mechanically squeezing or extracting liquids from fruit or vegetable pulp without the application of heat or solvents.
So if you’re like me, looking for the perfect and refreshing way to squeeze in your daily fruits and veggies, amongst all other temptations, check out my favorite 5 juice bars in Rome!
Aromaticus
Located on Via Urbana, Aromaticus is filled with articles for the garden and from the garden. You will find a simple but interesting menu, a play on the freshest ingredients that alternate with the seasons and the availability of the market. All juices are gluten free and vegan. Papaia, Ananas & Frutto della Passione (papaya, pineapple, and passion fruit) is a real winner.
Bar Pascucci
Unlike most of the juice bars around Rome, Bar Pascucci has been around for 80 years. Made famous by their smoothie, the menu also includes other classics. I’m often guilty of not trying new flavors so I asked the owner to make me his favorite juice… before I knew it I had a pulpy, blush color, glass of strawberry juice. No complaints here!
Solo Crudo
Just opened (2 weeks to be exact), Solo Crudo offers the only raw street food in all of Rome. The menu is full of raw vegan food, colorful and tasty for those seeking healthy ingredients and nutrients which are gluten free, and contain no animal derivatives. Solo Crudo prides itself on caring for the environment as well as those in need. Of course you can order a juice straight from the menu, but here it’s best to ask what the freshest ingredients are each day and you can create a custom juice. Lucky for me, mangoes had just been delivered. I had a sweet combination of mango, green apples, and fresh strawberries, over ice. It was the perfect pick-me-up.
GINGER Sapori e Salute
Just a few steps away from the Spanish Steps is another place to grab a juice or smoothie. Ginger is working passionately to spread the habit of eating fruits, vegetables, and herbs in the form of smoothies and other healthy plates, paying particular attention to organics. The mango and maracuja fruit granita is to die for. It’s made fresh with 100% pulp with no food additives or syrups. This refresher is served in a little dish and topped with fresh mango and passion fruit (which let’s be honest–is half the fun).
You really can’t go wrong with any of these juice bars. All 5 are guaranteed to leave you satisfied and with a bonus boost of energy! What’s your favorite juice bar in Rome?
