What’s open in Rome August 2019

By July 30, 2019December 1st, 2024No Comments

“Is August a good time to visit Rome?” This is probably the question I get asked the most by travellers. It’s true, Rome does empty out in August, and most businesses will take their ferie vacation in the month of August. As a result of this, travellers who have their heart set on certain restaurants and dining experiences may run into disappointment, finding them closed. Consequently, the second most popular question I get asked is, “What’s open in Rome during August?”

The good news, however, is that although many restaurants do close for a part or for the entire month of August, the trend is shifting. In recent years, an increasing number of restaurants stay open for part or all of August. It’s actually getting easier to reserve great tables in Rome in August, and even on the proverbial peak of August closures, Ferragosto––August 15.
