What an incredible journey we have all been on for the past few years. January, for many of us, is a time of reflection, revising our year, assessing our ups and owns. It is also a great time to look forward to the what has yet to be. Resolutions, personal manifestos, declarations of out with the old, and vows of dryness in January are abundant. January signifies a new chapter in our lives. There is great power and excitement in the newness that January provides.
Looking back at previous January blogs “Resolving to Remember the Silver Linings of 2020”, “Travel in the Ever Ongoing Pandemic“, and “Looking Behind to Plan Ahead” it is evident we have come so far from where we were in the bleakness of 2020. Travel, albeit with more health precautions, is alive and well bringing along with it all the marvels and joy that only travel can. Whether you take a half hour drive outside of town to visit a park you enjoy, or you take your dream trip around the globe this year, grant yourself the gift of travel in 2024. It is a gift we have been given back. Indulge your soul.
In the Chinese culture, although their New Year begins in February, 2024 welcomes the Year of the Dragon. To the Chinese, the Dragon “represents authority, health, success, good luck, strength and power.” May we take inspiration from the Dragon this year in whichever realm you see fit. Find more strength in your words and actions, take the steps to be a healthier you which you have been speaking about for the past year, take a chance on yourself, and know that you have all you need within to live the life you choose. Be dragon like in 2024!
Lastly, don’t forget to dream. We have all lived through nightmares of varying sorts, let us not forget to live through our dreams. An Italian proverb states “La fortuna aiuta gli audaci,” which translates to “fortune favors the bold.” Be bold in 2024.
