Home to the city of Naples, Italy, the region of Campania is heavenly with its Mediterranean climate, picturesque bays, and agricultural plenty. Deterred by Naples’ unsavory reputation, hurried visitors never stop long enough to discover the city and her delightful food, drink, smells, architecture, history and modern art scene. She is quickly forgotten as people speedily pass through the central train station on the way to Pompeii, the Amalfi Coast or Capri. A foodies’ paradise, complex and captivating, given a chance, she’ll lure you in with her luscious coffee, ricotta packed sweets, and spaghetti with clams. 
Fruit, vegetables and seafood fill market stalls, adjacent to take out windows selling Naples’ famous street food. Saucy pizza al portafoglio (piping hot pizza folded like a wallet) and paper cones overflowing with expertly fried arancini, polenta squares and verdure pastellate are a few of my favorites. On a steamy summer day, grab a bag of peppery taralli con sugna to snack on with a craft beer or a glass of wine from Campania’s mineral rich volcanic soil. After dinner sip on a chilled limoncello made from Amalfi Coast lemons and walk along the lungomare under the silvery moonlight before calling it a night.
